Worth the short drive

An eye exam that isn't rushed

Clear vision and healthy eyes aren't the same thing. Your exam covers both: an updated prescription, measured with a digital phoropter, and a careful look at the health of the eye, including screening for glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Retinal imaging gives Dr. Haddad a record to compare against next year.

Afterward, you can choose a frame in our optical without making a second stop. For most single-vision prescriptions, we can have your new glasses ready the same day.

No, and we'd rather say so up front. Our only office is at 114 E Reynolds Rd, Lexington, KY 40517, about 4 miles south of the Euclid Avenue and High Street corner. Most Chevy Chase patients come down Tates Creek Road.

What's the easiest way to get there from Chevy Chase?

Head south on High Street, which turns into Tates Creek Road. After about 2 miles, turn right on Lansdowne Drive, follow it over New Circle Road, then turn right on E Reynolds Rd. It's about 4 miles, roughly 10 minutes without traffic (approximate).

What does a comprehensive eye exam with Dr. Haddad include?

An updated prescription for glasses or contacts, measured with a digital phoropter, and a careful look at the front and back of the eye, including screening for glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Retinal imaging helps document changes from year to year, and Dr. Haddad explains what he finds before you leave.

Contacts have never felt right for me. Can you help?

Often, yes. Dr. Haddad fits scleral lenses, RGP contact lenses and Contacts for Keratoconus, along with soft lenses in daily, biweekly and monthly wear, toric lenses for astigmatism and multifocals. Whether a specialty lens is right for you is determined during an exam.

Do you do Kentucky driver's license vision exams?

Yes. It's a full eye exam with Dr. Haddad, and he completes and signs the Kentucky TC 94-202 form for your renewal. Bring the glasses or contacts you drive with.

My child's prescription gets stronger every year. What can we do?

Ask about myopia management. Dr. Haddad offers ortho-k, MiSight, Stellest lenses and low-dose atropine, and helps your family choose what fits. Slowing progression is the goal; no treatment can promise a specific result for an individual child.

Do you take EyeMed or VSP? Can I pay out of pocket?

Yes. We're in network with EyeMed and VSP, and we accept several other vision and medical plans. Self-pay is welcome too, for exams, glasses and contacts. Call or text 859-216-2660 if you'd like us to check your benefits before your visit.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins welcome. Booking online or calling ahead is the easiest way to reserve a time that suits you, especially if you're driving over from Chevy Chase.
